The Arrogance of Rome

This piece is perhaps the most dramatic artwork in my portfolio. It was commissioned bya couple in the Dallas area.  The idea originates fro ma monument in Vienna which shows a rather fat and pompous Mark Anthony seated in a chariot being pulled by subservient cowering lions. I was commissioned to incorporate the original them but to have the lions look & be very much the King of beasts. Each of the four cats has different expression and unlike the original, they are untamed and fierce. That a Roman warrior has these proud beasts harnessed to his chariot is indeed the Arrogance that was Rome.
